Neat Sloppy Joes

Neat Sloppy Joes

This dish is a great way to introduce a beloved classic to the picky eaters in your household.

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • 1 can (10.75 ounces) condensed tomato soup
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 8 hamburger buns, toasted if desired

Instructions

  • Brown the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until evenly browned. Crumble it finely with a potato masher for best results.
  • Cook Vegetables: Add celery and onion to the skillet, cover, and cook until they are tender, about 5 minutes. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
  • Combine Ingredients: Stir in tomato soup, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and garlic powder.
  • Simmer: Continue to cook over low heat, allowing the mixture to simmer. Stir frequently to ensure the sauce does not stick to the bottom of the pan.
  • Serve: Spoon the beef mixture onto the buns and serve immediately.
