- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter, softened
- ½ cup milk
- 3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the icing:
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add to the creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
- Shape and Bake: Drop the dough by rounded spoonfuls onto parchment-lined baking sheets. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes or until lightly golden.
- Cool and Decorate: Allow cookies to cool on a wire rack. For the icing, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Dip the top of each cooled cookie into the icing, then sprinkle with colored sprinkles.
- Set the Icing: Let the icing set completely before storing in an airtight container.
