Kitchen Equipment Needed
To successfully create these scrumptious 3 Ingredient Mounds Bars, you’ll need the following kitchen equipment:
- Medium mixing bowl
- Microwave-safe bowl
- Forks
- Parchment paper
- Cookie sheet
Recipe Tips and Variations
- For a variation, you can sprinkle chopped almonds or drizzle melted white chocolate on top of the coconut bars before the chocolate sets. This adds a delightful crunch and a touch of elegance.
- If you prefer a sweeter version, you can use sweetened shredded coconut instead of unsweetened coconut flakes.
- Experiment with different types of chocolate, such as dark chocolate or white chocolate, to customize the flavor according to your preferences.
Food and Drink Pairings
The 3 Ingredient Mounds Bar is a delightful treat on its own, but if you’d like to pair it with something to enhance the experience, here are a few suggestions:
- A cup of hot freshly brewed coffee complements the rich chocolate flavor of the bars perfectly.
- Serve the coconut bars alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delectable dessert combination.
- Enjoy them with a glass of cold milk for a classic and comforting treat.
Ingredients
- 2 cups melted milk or dark chocolate
- 3 cups of coconut flakes
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the coconut flakes and sweetened condensed milk.
With clean and wet hands, shape the coconut mixture into 12 logs, placing each one on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet. Freeze the logs for about 20 minutes.
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt about 10 ounces of chocolate by microwaving on high for 30 seconds, then in 15-second intervals until completely melted. Stir well between each interval.
Add the remaining 5 ounces of chocolate to the melted chocolate and stir until it is fully melted.
Use forks to dip each coconut bar into the chocolate, then transfer them back to the parchment paper-lined cookie sheet. Allow the chocolate on the bars to set. Due to the bars being chilled in the freezer, the chocolate should set quickly.
