- 2 (about 21-ounce) cans apple pie filling
- 1 (15.25-ounce) box yellow or spice cake mix
- 1 1/2 sticks (6 ounces) cold unsalted butter, plus more for the baking dish
- Vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Arrange a rack in the middle of the oven and heat to 350°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with unsalted butter.
- Layer Ingredients: Spread the apple pie filling evenly in the baking dish. Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the filling. Slice the butter thinly and distribute it evenly over the cake mix, covering as much area as possible.
- Bake: Place in the oven and bake until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbling, about 1 hour.
- Serve: Enjoy warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
Notes
Storage: If you have leftovers, simply place them in an airtight container and refrigerate. They will keep well for up to 3 days.
